Peace and Harmony in the heart

Roof top cafe at Anggun boutique hotel, Kuala Lumpur

I meant to blog this down for a while, so that I can remember it.

‘Peace and Harmony in the heart of KL’. That’s what the slogan at the end of the email from Anggun boutique hotel confirming my booking.

I had a business trip to KL a couple of months ago with meeting ended on Friday. Since I have not visited KL for quite a while, I decided to extend my stay to catch up with a friend and rediscover the city.

Searching for non-business-like accommodation on the net, Anggun caught my attention mainly due to its proximity to Bukit Bintang and a nicely done website (that’s a useful indication). While it took me quite some extra walking to finally discover where it was … it is located in a relatively quiet neighbourhood off-off-Jalan Bukit Bintang. But there lies the strength of its location:- minutes of walking distance to Bukit Bintang, access to hip cafes, pubs and roadside hawker stalls, yet remains quiet and cosy.

Towels in the room

The room I had was a Classic room … not too big and has a window opens to the patio. What impressed me were some small details:- how they fold the towels to the shape of a kimono (see picture on the left), and a really beautiful wash basin.

And after a long night out mingling in the bustling crowds at Bukit Bintang, it was really nice back to Anggun for wind-down.

But the highlight was really in the morning. Breakfast was served at the rooftop cafe. While the food was really basic, it was the ambience of the morning sunlight lighting up the rooftop cafe, coupled with the tender environment sound of the neighbourhood that made it such a calming corner to read a book. To think a thought.
To search for the peace and harmony, in the heart.
